CCEM EOC: The LIRA weather net is still active yet informal as there are still major power outages all over SW Oklahoma. Even the HAMs are having difficulty in communication activities. Various LIRA team members continue to send in reports of better roads and down power lines. Power company crews have been working and are making progress. The damage is so large and covers such a large area it will take days at least to restore power to the whole area (unofficial timing). The net continues to operate on the 444.075 CCEM repeater as the 525 is too noisy. |

Weather Synopsis...Precipitation continues to develop and spread across the area at the same time cold low level air is spreading south behind a cold front. This will create a widespread area of freezing rain this morning across much of Oklahoma and portions of western north Texas. Some areas will receive significant ice accumulations on trees and power lines. Snow will be likely across northwest Oklahoma where 6-10" of snow may accumulate. Areas of sleet will also be possible today. Low-level temperatures will be warm enough to keep the precipitation as rain across southeast Oklahoma and portions of north central Texas through the day, but the winter precipitation will spread into this area this evening and overnight. |

Weather Synopsis...A strong upper storm system will continue to approach the southern plains this morning. This system will combine with a cold Canadian airmass spreading south through the plains to produce a major winter storm over Oklahoma and North Texas. Freezing rain and sleet will spread northeastward across parts of western North Texas as well as southwest and central Oklahoma this morning and then continue to spread northeast during the day. Significant accumulations of ice will be possible especially across portions of southwest and central Oklahoma. Ice accumulations on power lines along with gusty winds could lead to power outages. Further north... across northern Oklahoma... the main winter weather impact will come from very heavy snow where up to 10 inches of snow may fall in some areas. |
